Artist Bio: John Foflygen is noted for his bold, sparkling, impressionistic style. He was strongly influenced by the Boston and Old Lyme Schools of Painting during his stay in Connecticut in the late 70’s, which only deepened his commitment to his lifelong passion for figure painting and fluid technique.
John is a native of the Pittsburgh area and received his master’s degree from Kutztown State University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania. He was a past instructor of anatomy and figure drawing at York Academy for the Arts, York, Pennsylvania, and past instructor of painting at the Guilford ArtS chool, Guilford, Connecticut.
His work is represented in many private and corporate collections, including the Slater Memorial Museum of Art, Norwich, Connecticut and the Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, Maryland.
Until its closing John was one of the featured artists at the Venable Neslaqe Gallery in Washington, D.C. and is presently featured at the Queen Street Gallery in Martinsburg, West Virginia.
